Al-Ahli winger Riyad Mahrez has shared his thoughts on the level of the Saudi league.
“The level of the league? It’s okay and it’s getting better all the time. I’m still exploring this league. There’s definitely an effort to attract the best players, and the quality of players is increasing. I think this is just the beginning.
Even though the Saudi league cannot be compared to Europe at the moment, in the near future the local league has the potential to become one of the six or seven best in the world if the current pace of development is maintained," Mahrez said, as reported by L'Equipe.
The 32-year-old Algerian joined Al-Ahli from Manchester City in the summer for €35 million. During that time, Riyadh has featured in 14 matches, scoring six goals and providing six assists.
